“Version 1511” (read SP1) will be pulled in a couple weeks
ComputerWorld reports that Windows 10 will be out of support in two weeks. Of course, this is the very first update in 2015. Of course the media is playing this out of proportion. This particular version, 1511 is almost like Service Pack and was orignally slated to have support severed last October, however the spin doctors at Microsoft stated on their blog that “albeit only for commercial customers. “To help some early enterprise adopters that are still finishing their transition to Windows as a service, we will be providing a supplemental servicing package for Windows 10, version 1511, for an additional six months, until April 2018.”
Apparently these random numbers is the year and month in the form of two year numbering like 2015 and November (11).
And Microsoft had changed their tune since where all customers were delayed the the end of times . Previous patches had extended shelf life, and broke every Microsoft policy for support. But hey, I thought Windows 10 was all about being forced to update out of your own will including the enterprise world?
Windows as a service seems to just be like Windows as a product in terms of kicking the can down the road for support. Perhaps Windows 10 in the long run will just be like Windows 2003 and XP, where every attempt to obsolete will be delayed?
